Brother Film Screening brought to you by Oakville Festivals of Film and Art (OFFA),  Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton (CCAH), and Film.ca Cinemas– February 18 Doors Open 630 pm. Event begins 730 pm. Theatre One.

Join us on February 18 at 7:30 pm at Film.ca in Oakville for a screening of Clement Virgo’s film Brother, an adaptation of the acclaimed novel by Trinidadian-Canadian author David Chariandy, presented in partnership with the Oakville Festivals of Film & Art and Film.ca Cinemas. Refreshments will be available in the lobby.

Following the movie, the evening will continue with a dynamic panel discussion and audience Q&A, offering deeper insight to the film and connection to our Black History Month theme.

Film Synopsis  

Sons of Caribbean immigrants, Francis and Michael face questions of masculinity, identity and family amid the pulsing beat of Toronto’s early hip-hop scene. A mystery unfolds when escalating tensions set off a series of events which changes the course of the brothers’ lives forever. The screening will be followed by a Q&A. Themes: Explores identity, family, community resilience, race, and masculinity.
